The Design of Rural Worlds programme is a delocalised programme of the École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs in Nontron, Dordogne, dedicated to the development of rural areas through design and operating on the principle of responding to problems in close collaboration with local actors. The course can accommodate 6 to 8 students. It is organised around three immersive study projects from local authorities, institutions, companies, associations or individuals, enabling students to confront real issues. The commissions will be on priority subjects for the territory but likely to concern rurality in general.
The programme also aims to raise awareness of design practices among rural actors. A designer and teacher at Ensad, Florence Doléac, will be in charge of supervision, artistic and scientific support and invited artists and theoreticians (geographer, sociologist, anthropologist specialising in rural worlds, etc.). A grant of €7,000 is awarded to each participant.
